2 MOST EASY SAREE DRAPING


“Offo! Ma, please can you help me to drape this saree?” Do you rant and rave to your mother like this before attending a party or any special occasion as you do not know how to drape a saree easily. Many of you do not want to bother anyone to help you drape a saree, every second day or spend money asking someone to drape you saree in exchange of money.
Maybe you are working as a manager for a top IT company or you are at a top class post in a government organisation and you are an extreme busy lady as many of us nowadays are. Seriously we do not have the time to spend a lot of time in draping a saree in complicated manner, go out and give attention to it and managing the pleats and the pallu, every nanosecond. The basic requirements to drape a saree are saree, blouse, petticoat and saree pin. Read on the 1stdraping

  • Take the plain edge of the saree, and start tucking it in the petticoat from the right side to the left side of your waist. Adjust the lower end of the saree according to your height.
  • Hold top edge of the drape or saree where the pallu is and bring it around your hips to the front and over your left shoulder, thus measuring the length of pallu. Hang down the pallu to the back till the knee length. Pin your pallu to the blouse, if you need to.
  • Make pleats of the remaining saree and tuck it in petticoat. Make 7 to 8 pleats of 5 to 6 inches or 6 to 8 inches of breadth. Turn the pleats to left side.
  • Now take the remaining loose portion of the saree, the pallu to be precise, turn it around once the body and drape it over the left shoulder. You can arrange it in pleats and pin to secure from falling off.
